Pastor René Monette grew up in Texas, graduated from Howard Payne University, and attended Southwest Baptist Theological Seminary. He was ordained in 1973. Beginning in his college days, René served as Minister of Music and Youth, and also as Assistant Pastor in several churches, before moving to Houma. René and Vicki were married in 1977.
Pastor René has been the only Senior Pastor at Living Word since it first opened in 1979. He emphasizes strong, scripturally-sound theology combined with practical wisdom, insight, and application.
